I, as you, have gotten most of my advice to simply “write every day” and the justification was that we don’t know which of our work is good. Only the audience knows.

But that’s only true if we follow the proper rules and have good writing to begin with.

The audience decides great reception versus mediocre reception, but bad writing decides itself.
