I absolutely love this. I’ve been studying stoic philosophy for the past months, since the pandemic shut things down where I am, and it’s all about this. Control the controllable, let go of the uncontrollable.

Since starting to write on Medium, nearly a month ago, I’ve been thinking about this more and more.

What I can control: the quality of my writing, the frequency of my writing, the way I engage and read with others’ work, the publications I submit to.

What I can’t control: how many reads or views an article gets, how much money I make, how much time someone spends on my articles.

I can influence these things, but not actually control them. I don’t want to get down on myself because I’m upset about something outside of my control.

Consistent writer since a few weeks ago. Not all published stories are good ones, but that’s getting better. In some cool pubs, too.
